Energy Services Group announced the appointment of George M. Behr to the position of Director of Sales effective September 1. ESG provides trading partner management, electronic business transaction (EBT) management and integration, and professional services to many of the nation's largest suppliers and distributors of electricity, natural gas and other deregulated services. Behr brings his unparalleled knowledge of the complexities of the developing ERCOT market to the ESG team, along with extensive experience forming the EDI (Electronic Data Exchange) standards and testing procedures in competitive energy markets throughout the country.

Behr has been involved in the eBusiness of electric and gas deregulation since November 1998. His concepts and approaches for testing and certification have been adopted by many states, including PA, NJ, MD, VA, and OH. Most recently Behr worked to develop the standards and testing procedures for participants in the developing ERCOT market, which commenced the TexasChoice pilot program this past June. "I've had the opportunity to work with ESG firsthand, as they help their clients overcome the technical hurdles of deregulation, and have always been impressed with their high level of client service. I am pleased to augment the Company's collective expertise to help our clients better understand, and thus succeed in developing competitive markets," Behr remarked.

Behr joins ESG following a career in IT architecture, representing clients such as Public Service Electric and Gas, Conectiv, GPU, Green Mountain, PP&L, BGE, PECO and PEPCO, where he worked designing internal eCommerce solutions and developing EDI systems and protocols.

"George is considered one of the leaders in the competitive energy industry. We are thrilled to offer our clients the high level of expertise and experience that George brings to the ESG team," President and CEO, Nate Owen said. "George will focus on helping our clients operate in Texas and New York, two very active and dynamic competitive markets where he is well known and has considerable expertise," Owen continued.
